Claims
If you have been injured in a work accident, you are entitled to compensation to help you and your family.
It doesn’t matter whether you were hurt at work or on the way to or from work, you are entitled to compensation through a Workers’ Compensation claim. This covers you for your medical expenses and provides you with compensation so you and your family can move on with your lives knowing you’re covered for the worst.
It is important to know that Workers’ Compensation claims are complex and having a dedicated and expert team behind you means you can feel comfortable knowing your lawyers will make sure you get everything you’re entitled to.
WT are experts in adding value to Workers’ Compensation claims and compensation law – in fact it’s the only thing we do. You’re not alone in this, so help us, help you and get in contact to find out your entitlements.
What is a WorkCover Claim?
All Queensland businesses who employ people must have Workers’ Compensation insurance to cover their workers. It is compulsory for your employer and has one purpose – to help those who are injured at work.
This means that if you start a Workers’ Compensation claim, it is against an insurance company so your employer will not personally be out of pocket.
How does it work?
After our free initial consultation where you’re made fully aware of all your rights and entitlements, we will assess which Workers’ Compensation claim is best for you and your family.
There are a number of avenues you can proceed with your work injury, so it is really important you get advice from an expert early in the process. We will then work with you to formulate a strategy to maximise your claim and WorkCover benefits. The process can then involve a number of steps including liability assessment, responding to complex requests for information from WorkCover, medical assessment and negotiations.
We know the process can feel overwhelming, so we want you to simply focus on getting your life back on track and leave the rest up to us.
How is my compensation calculated?
The amount of compensation you may be entitled to depends on a variety of factors. This includes:
• The extent of your injuries
• Your age
• Your employment
• The impact on your wages
• What kind of treatment you will need now and in the future
• Whether you will require any care now and in the future.
Strict time limits apply for making Workers’ Compensation claims so get in touch for our free initial consultation so you can have your rights explained.

Frequently asked questions
Unfortunately, we can’t tell you how much your claim is worth without first taking a look at your individual situation, employment and injuries. Unlike some other firms, we will not entice people to start claims by providing case studies of some clients receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars for certain injuries. Although that may happen in your claim, it is important for you to know that each case is different and a thorough look into every detail is required to tell you how much your claim is worth.
Each claim is different but the majority of whiplash claims can be settled in 12 to 14 months.
The length of your claim depends on how long it takes for your injuries to get better, so claims can vary in timeframes depending on how serious the injuries are. Regardless, we always do everything we can to settle claims as quickly as possible for our clients.
The vast majority of claims are settled without ever having to go to court. We are able to negotiate out-of-court settlements because it is usually in the best interests of the parties to settle. However, if your claim does need to proceed to court, don’t worry, we will fight by your side every step of the way.
